Gran Canaria

It’s October the 7th and it is finally time for us to go on our holiday! Setting off in the morning was slightly stressful as the train we were booked on to the airport was cancelled, which left us having to get a later train and meaning we were 40mins behind schedule. Not exactly the stressful morning you want when you have a flight to catch, but we made it!

Arriving on the island in 26 degree glorious sunshine was bliss. We spent the first day exploring the area and filling up the fridge in our adorable little self catering bungalow.

The first morning I’m happily trying to figure out the coffee machine/kettle devise in the kitchen and I hear a little scream from the bathroom, Joel had found a cockroach under one of the towels. That was my first experience of a cockroach and I’m glad it wasn’t me that found it under my towel. After the cockroach drama we head down to the beach. It was such a stunning and fascinating walk along the side of a massive dried up river, which we even ventured down to walk along for a bit. When we got to the beach we enjoyed the sunshine and relaxed on the sand and had plenty of fun messing around in the sea.

The second day was spent at Aqualand waterpark, fun on slides and the lazy river and a rather underwhelming wave pool, but never the less a waterpark is always a fun day out. Β The third day was another fun adventure day exploring the sand dunes of Gran Canaria, it felt as if we were in the middle of the dessert somewhere it was very peaceful and beautiful. That evening we had a wonderful experience in the Moonlight Cinema, possibly one of the cutest places I have ever been. Each couple gets their own sofa and blanket and there is no need to queue for drinks and popcorn they take your order from your sofa.

The last day meant a chilled morning by the pool and packing up our little bungalow. Then as the weather got cooler we headed down to the shopping centre to spend the last of our pennies on all that souvenir stuff.

A fun and chilled 5 nights in the sun! just what we needed.
